FCAW Flux cored arc welding

Flux cored arc welding (FCAW) is an arc welding process in which the heat for welding
is produced by an arc between a continuously fed tubular electrode wire and the work.
Shielding is obtained by a flux contained within the tubular electrode wire (self-shielded, FCAW-S) or by the flux and an externally supplied shielding gas (gas-shielded, FCAW-G).

What are the advantages of FCAW over SMAW process?

  • A high-deposition rate process (speed at which the filler metal is applied) in the 1G/1F/2F
  • Semi or complete automatic welding process with high welding speed
  • Metallurgical benefits from the flux
  • Less pre-cleaning of metal is required
  • Porosity chances are very low

Air Liquide Flux Core Arc Welding Consumables combine 3 general features: productivity of continuous wire welding, metallurgical benefits that can be derived from a flux, a slag that supports and shapes the weld bead. Air Liquide Canada has a wide selection of FCAW wires for mild, high alloy and stainless steels.
